In a wonderful piece of symmetry, the Ramblas started their tenth their season as they did their first, on a gloriously sunny Easter Sunday. And to show how far the club has come, there were several pre-match landmarks to honour.

After losing the previous week’s match to some classic bank holiday weather, the Ramblas were delighted that the sun was back in all its glory as they travelled to Oakhill Taverners. In what has become a tough ninth season for the club, fans and players alike were confident that the team could sign off the season in style.

After a freak bout of weather, that the experts were calling ‘rain’, caused the Ramblas previous game to be cancelled, the team travelled to OD Cuaco with the weather back to its old self. Namely, baking hot without a cloud/breeze in sight.

Fresh from an epic win against Petts Wood the previous week, the sun had once again come out to play as the Ramblas took on Hildenborough at fortress ex-blues. And with temperatures soaring, players and fans knew it was going to be a tough afternoon in the field. And with both teams struggling for numbers, the task was going to prove all the more difficult.

The sun was once again out in full force as the Ramblas travelled to old foes Petts Wood, looking to avenge the home defeat earlier in the season. And despite even though Wimbledon and the World Cup were competing for peoples affections, those in the know knew that the real drama was about to unfold in a leafy corner of Kent.

The Ramblas returned home after their efforts last week as they took on new opponents Hackney Umpires. However, in the two weeks since they were last at home, fortress ex-blues looked more like a scene from a dystopian wasteland than the verdant green utopia we are used to.

Refreshed and relaxed after last week’s excellent Family Day, the Ramblas headed to old foes Chevening Amblers hoping to start the second half of the season strong. And the glorious weather and idyllic setting, the atmosphere was buzzing.

Coming off the back of a humbling defeat to Sherwood last week, the Ramblas headed to Chislehurst to get back to, if not winning ways, then at least getting the spirit back in the squad. But as with last year’s game versus the hosts, Chislehurst very own micro-climate ensured that it was another chilly day for players and fans alike.

In another gripping contest at Fortress Ex-Blues, an Alex Danks century saw the ten man Ramblas claim their 11th win of season against Wrotham St George. The win also saw the hosts finish the season with a 7-1 home record as they finish the season with two away games.
