While La Decima may have ended with a few humbling defeats, there was still plenty of reasons to be cheerful; six wins, five centuries and a five-fer. And with the Ramblas treasurer in tow, a tab was opened and the festivities commenced.
The evening started in classic Ramblas fashion, with a Thommo quiz. Once again the Ramblas vice-skipper put together another excellent quiz, outdoing himself with the picture round.
After dominating the quiz for the last few years, Steve Fitch had to settle for second place and the trio of Doug Danks, Drew Smith & Doug Danks swept aside all in their path to claim victory.
To the victors the spoils
Once the quiz was finished, it was down to the serious business of the Ramblas awards and you can see all the winners below:
PLAYERS’ PLAYER // ASH HARRISS
It had to be Ash didn’t it? 810 runs, three centuries and countless innings that helped tidy up messy scorecards. While he couldn’t buy a run for Natwest Blues, luckily for the Ramblas it just made him hungrier for runs on a Sunday.
SKIPPER’S PLAYER // ED GIBBS
Last year’s winner of the award retains the title thanks to another excellent season for the Ramblas. Ed claimed a career high 16 wickets this season and finished in the top five for runs, wickets & catches to showcase his all round ability.
FAN’S PLAYER // MATT RUDGYARD
Matt joined the Ramblas in the summer of 2017 and since then has made himself part of the fabric of the club. From his home made cakes for tea to his swashbuckling efforts with the bat, his efforts have not gone unnoticed by the Ramblas faithful.
CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR // STEVE FITCH
A Ramblas original, a century of appearance for the club and always an under the radar performer. Always puts his best foot forward with whatever the club needs from him, and to top it off, he hosts a mean BBQ!
